Coronation Street is saying goodbye to Millie Gibson, as Kelly Neelan finally learns a long-buried secret and a boatload of drama unfolds.

And, of course, one of the great rituals for an actor leaving a big project is to take home a little present from the set to remember everyone by – and Millie is no different.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other press as part of a lengthy interview that goes in deep on the filming of her final scenes, her plans post-Corrie, her highlights from being on the soap and advice she's gotten from her co-stars, Millie opened up about how she's chosen a practical keepsake.

"I'm going to take Kelly's black puffer coat with fur on the hood – she wears it all the time in winter," she said.

"Every time it's summer I miss her coat because I feel like her whenever I wear it. I'm going to take that for sure. This is a bit of a spoiler but I made sure in my last scene I was wearing that coat because I wanted to take it."

Sounds like a great way to keep warm, but we can't imagine it'll do much to stop people confusing the actress with her character while out and about.

Explaining why she chose to depart the soap, Millie added: "I think Corrie is a home. It's the best way of describing it, it's a home. Because I'm so young, I thought, 'I've got to leave'. I have no responsibilities – I don't have kids, I don't have a mortgage to pay or anything like that, I'm still grateful to be living at home.

"So I thought, 'I'm just going to see what else the world has'. If it does happen, it does – that would be quite good, wouldn't it? I just thought I might as well see what happens while I'm still young."
