Corrie's Georgia Taylor shares hopes for Toyah's long-term future

Coronation Street star Georgia Taylor has opened up about her hopes for her character Toyah Habeeb's long-term future on the soap.

Toyah is in the middle of a very intense storyline on the show which involves the death of her husband Imran. Upcoming episodes are set to show Toyah as she finally reveals what actually happened during that fateful car crash in June.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other press, she talked about what it was like to film this storyline and what she hopes to see for Toyah in the future.

"I've absolutely loved it, I've been crying out for this for about two years. Not this specific storyline but something like this that is textured and complicated and multi-faceted," she said.

"I've spoken about this but I think I had a couple of years where Toyah was very passive, very forgiving, I felt like she became a little bit of a doormat and I just wanted to see her get a bit of fire back and a bit of spark."

She also hopes to see Toyah eventually adopt a child someday.

"I think it's definitely an option for her. I love that side of her," she said, "The argument against that, I guess, is that I've always said we have a responsibility in reflecting all aspects of society, to show a childless woman and to show that a childless woman can be happy, that's something I feel quite strongly about myself."

"So it might be that she finds fulfilment and joy in something else. However, having said that, she is naturally very maternal and caring so I understand why her fostering a child or adopting a child seems like the obvious fit."

"Personally, I just want her to get loads of animals. I want to be filming with cats, dogs, rabbits, a pony, everything. Pigs – she should keep pigs. That's what I'd like to happen!" she added.
