A few weeks ago, Melanie Hill confirmed that Cathy would be leaving Coronation Street soon, and now the cause of her exit has seemingly been teased. So what will bring about her departure?

In upcoming scenes, Brian will lead a glamorous, dolled up Cathy into the local pub the Rovers for date night, where she will be saddened to realise their rendezvous will only amount to a beer tasting.

Later in the week on Coronation Street, Cathy makes a shocking discovery that could lead to her taking her leave from Weatherfield, when she spots some papers in Brian's bag.

Upon seeing the papers, her face falls due to an awful realisation out of the blue… but why? Are Brian and Cathy on the verge of splitting?

As mentioned, it was recently announced that Melanie Hill will be quitting her role as Cathy after seven years on the soap.

Commenting on her upcoming departure, Hill teased: "I won't say where Cathy goes but I'm a stone's throw away."

Coronation Street favourite Cathy Matthews, who is treasured by fans, hasn't had a storyline of her own in the ITV soap for a little while. But, as she makes ready to depart, it looks like we'll be seeing her wrapped up in some relationship drama.
