Emma Brooker's emotional exit scenes have aired in Coronation Street.

Cast member Alexandra Mardell officially bowed out during Friday's (April 8) hour-long episode following a rollercoaster week for Emma.

A week that started with Emma breaking things off with boyfriend Jon eventually saw her agree to move to Australia with him after coming clean about the role she played in his grandfather Ted's death.

Her final scenes saw Emma debating over whether she'd go with Jon immediately or join him in Australia in a few months. Jon was hoping she'd come away with him that very day.

Faye and Craig were made up for Emma, especially after finding out her mum Fiona Middleton had been thrilled with the news that her daughter is coming home.

Emma gathered up dad Steve, Tracy and Amy to share the life-changing news that she would be leaving the cobbles for good to start this new life with her "soul mate".

Though Steve was understandably upset at first, he eventually shared a hug with his daughter and gave her his blessing to start this new adventure down under.

Even Audrey joined in for Emma's farewell as the beloved character said her goodbyes to Weatherfield and set off for Oz with Jon. Is this really the end of Emma in Coronation Street?

Alexandra Mardell did recently hint to Digital Spy that she wasn't completely closing the door on coming back to the street in the future.

"I've definitely not drawn a line under it," she said. "I can see how people stay there for so long. I don't know what the future holds but I'm just so glad that Emma is still alive, and hopefully, she remains alive."

Mardell originally joined Coronation Street in 2018, soon winning the British Soap Award for Best Newcomer and receiving a National Television Award longlist nomination as well.
