Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street has revealed a further surprising twist in Adam Barlow and Lydia Chambers' storyline, following the revelation that Adam will suffer a horrifying accident.
The soap has already released preview pictures of Adam (Sam Robertson) and Lydia's (Rebecca Ryan) dangerous showdown in a shopping centre, which show the pair having a furious argument before stalker Lydia shoves Adam and sends him crashing over a first-floor railing onto the ground below.
We now have further details of the events surrounding the fall, which will air next week, and it sounds like the accident won't be the end of the plot.

The drama begins when Adam decides to meet Lydia at a coffee shop. Keen to catch her out at last after all her scheming, he presses the record button on his phone while they talk, but Lydia sees right though him and snatches his phone, deleting the recording.
What to Read Next
Adam declares that he's had enough of her games and he tries to wrestle his phone back from her but, as Lydia lets go of it, the phone smashes to the floor.
Lydia starts to give Adam some home truths, railing at him for how he treated her after they had a relationship years ago. Adam feels a pang of guilt as he realises just how much he hurt Lydia in the past.

But when Adam suggests that it's time she told his wife Sarah Barlow (Tina O'Brien) the truth about all of her recent schemes, Lydia seethes, realising that he is still the same old Adam and that he only cares about himself.
Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) soon turns up at the shopping centre to search for Adam, having heard from Sarah that he has gone there to meet Lydia. Suddenly, he hears a commotion up on the balcony.
Lydia, who is in a rage over Adam's behaviour, slaps Adam and gives him an almighty shove in her anger. But he soon goes toppling backwards over the railings, as Lydia watches on in horror.

Seriously injured Adam is left lying unconscious on the floor, covered in blood, following his dangerous fall.
After he is rushed to hospital, the doctor tells Daniel and Ken Barlow (William Roache) that Adam has suffered a bleed behind the eye and that he needs an operation to save his sight.
The pair quiz Adam about his fall after he wakes up and suggest that Lydia is to blame but, surprisingly, Adam claims that he doesn't remember what happened.
Is he telling the truth, or is he covering for Lydia – and what does this latest shocking incident mean for Lydia's future on the cobbles?

Lydia actress Rebecca recently admitted that she is "quite hated at the minute" due to her character's behaviour, saying: "I suppose I'll take it as a compliment. Yeah, but there's a lot of hate out there for Lydia because she is a terrible character.
"I mean, I sat there watching it and obviously I read the scripts and it's me that's doing them, but when you sit back and actually watch it you go [shocked noise]."
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, March 21 and Wednesday, March 23 at 8pm on ITV.
