Coronation Street's Lydia Chambers seems to be ramping up her plan to drive a wedge between Sarah and Adam Barlow,

In the first episode of the night (February 14), Lydia (Rebecca Ryan) deliberately made a scene at the factory, as she opened a Valentine's Day gift bag and pulled out a lingerie set.

When Sarah (Tina O'Brien) arrived, she made out that the present was from her ex and that she's confused by his mixed messages, which prompted Sarah to encourage her to address the situation.

"My head is all over the place at the moment. One minute, he's blowing cold, the next he's sending me stuff like that," Lydia said.

"I seriously think you need to have a proper chat with him," Sarah urged. "Because he is not being fair, on your or his wife."

In a later scene, Adam (Sam Robertson) left Sarah fuming when he called her up to cancel their romantic plans, explaining that he was stuck in a big meeting with a client at a nearby hotel.

The second instalment saw Sarah drown her sorrows in the Rovers Return with Peter and Carla, while Lydia secretly travelled to the hotel where Adam is staying, and followed him as he escorted his client to the in-house restaurant.

Plonking herself down at a table, Lydia ordered a meal. But when it arrived, she insisted that she wanted to take it back to her room, to surprise her "boyfriend", Adam. Sweetening the waitress up with the promise of a tip, she told her that she'd misplaced her watch earlier and asked that, if it turn up, they contact Adam.

When the waitress walked off, she removed her gold watch and hid it in a plant pot beside the table, before sauntering off, dumping the food and smugly taking a swig from a bottle of wine.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7.30pm on ITV.
