Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street newcomer Rebecca Ryan has opened up about the growing romance between her character Lydia Chambers and Daniel Osbourne, sharing that there's a "genuine attraction" there.
Lydia's arrival on the cobbles has so far led to some problems for Sarah and Adam Barlow after Sarah learned that Lydia and Adam were in a relationship while at university together.
Since she's been in Weatherfield, however, it's Adam's uncle Daniel (Rob Mallard) who's caught Lydia's eye, and the pair recently began dating.

With the soap confirming that Lydia will continue to cause trouble for Sarah and Adam's marriage in the months ahead, soap fans have wondered whether Lydia's interest in Daniel is genuine, or whether it's all part of a bigger plot to make Adam jealous.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other media recently, though, Ryan has shared that she believes the attraction between the couple is real – albeit, admittedly complicated.
"I think it's a genuine attraction. It's an instant attraction. And they've got a lot in common, they read a lot of the same books and poetry – they're very like-minded," Ryan explained.

"So I think it's definitely a genuine thing. It's just unfortunate that he happens to be related to Adam and that doesn't help the situation because then I think if anything does happen, she immediately blames Adam for ruining things. But I think there's definitely a genuine attraction there."
Considering Lydia's history with Adam, and Daniel's own connection with love interest Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) too, it's safe to say that any potential romance between Lydia and Daniel won't exactly be smooth sailing.
"It is a bit tricky," Ryan admitted. "I think they would be really good together. Like I say, I think they've got a lot in common, they've got a lot of similar interests, I think they would be really good together."
She continued: "You know, for Lydia, it's just come [at] a really awkward time, because he has still got this thing with Daisy. And I think in sort of taking everyone else out of this situation, they probably would get on really well. And they probably have a nice, lovely little relationship.
"But that's not how it works – not in the land of Corrie," she added.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7.30pm on ITV.
