Coronation Street cast praise Maximus Evans as Corey Brent exits

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

After six months of evading justice, Coronation Street's villainous Corey Brent has finally received his comeuppance after being arrested in last night's (November 5) episode and charged with Seb Franklin's (Harry Visinoni) murder.

Corey and his dad Stefan (Paul Opacic) were hoping to make a sneaky exit from Weatherfield for a new life abroad, but when the van they're hiding in comes to a stop, it's none other than Gary Windass (Mikey North) who opens the door and reveals that they've actually been taken to the police station.

Maximus Evans, who has brought the evil thug to life, has addressed his character's exit, but did tease that this may not be the last we see of him.

"And just like that... he was gone," Evans shared on social media. "Thank you all for the ride, it's been a blast. Over and out... for now."

Following this, the cast and crew of the ITV soap have shared their own praise for Evans and well wishes for the future.

Sally Carmen, who plays Corey's nemesis and Seb's mum Abi Franklin, said: "I'm going to miss you. What a fabulous job you did [three fire emojis]", whilst George Shuttleworth portrayer Tony Maudsley shared: "Bravo Max!! What a cracking job you did! Hope that London is being good to you. Can't wait to see what you do next!! [clapping hands emojis]"

Meanwhile, Georgia Taylor (who plays Toyah Battersby) commended on the progression of Corey's character from his initial introduction, through to the villain viewers have come to love to hate. "What a blooming triumph, Max!" she wrote on Twitter. "From an initial handful of episodes to an incredibly compelling and complex villain. Top work."

Kyran Bowes (Jack Webster on the soap) also said Evans was "amazing" and that he was "glad [they] did a scene together", while Jack James Ryan (who joined the soap this year as Jacob Hay for the gang storyline) added: "Incredible job brother".

Coronation Street screenwriter Jonathan Harvey offered his own congratulations, stating: "What a ride it's been. All the congrats mister".
