Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street killer Corey Brent was finally charged by the police in the dramatic Bonfire Night (November 5) double-bill.

Thanks to flashbacks, viewers of the iconic ITV soap already know that this thug was responsible for the death of Seb Franklin earlier in the year, but a lengthy investigation and lack of evidence has proven crucial in his continued freedom.

That all came to a satisfying end tonight, though.

Unfolding in the second of the two episodes, Corey and his dad Stefan thought they'd got away from Weatherfield with an exciting future ahead – the plan was to leave the country and start a new life with a foreign football team – but when their van abruptly rolled to a stop, the truth slapped them right in the face.

Gary Windass slid the van door open, and to Corey and Stefan's shock, they realised they'd actually been delivered to the police station. DS Swain emerged to handcuff Corey on suspicion of murder.

Thrilled for his client wrongly rotting away in jail, Imran Habeeb visited Kelly Neelan to break the good news of Corey's murder charge and he now intends to launch an appeal for her release.

In the town's memorial garden, Abi Franklin and Nina Lucas set off a rocket as a tribute to Seb.

Meanwhile, Corey actor Maximus Evans previously spoke of how Corrie fanatics have gone as far as screaming at him in the street for his character's evil behaviour.

"In pubs, people are either wagging their finger or getting ready to insult me. Then they realise, 'No, he's an actor, he's just an ordinary guy' and they hold themselves back," he explained to The Sun on Sunday.

"When I'm watching with my mum, you can tell that she's proud, but it's funny because she does hate Corey. She'll say, 'Oh, he's a bad 'un!' or, 'He's awful'."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
