Coronation Street's Simon Gregson discusses his 'haunted' house

Coronation Street veteran Simon Gregson apparently lives in a haunted house.

Portrayer of Weatherfield's Steve McDonald, the actor caught up with the Loose Women via video link this week, where the Halloween festivities spilled over into conversation.

"I love all the supernatural stuff. I think, to be honest with you, the reason for it is because it'd be so nice if there was something else afterwards," Gregson confessed.

"There have been some scary moments," he continued, before recalling: "I used to live in this flat in Cheadle a long time ago, and there was definitely something there.

"One night, we didn't go home, we were somewhere else, and one of the neighbours went absolutely mental of the fact that doors were banging, microwaves kept pinging on and off, and George – who was my chinchilla – was living in the spare room, screamed a really high-pitched scream. They only do that when they're terrified, so what was he frightened of?"

According to Gregson, the spine-chilling shenanigans appear to follow him wherever he goes.

In relation to his family's current home in Cheshire, he claimed: "I have seen a ghost! There is a white lady that's in our house where we live now. I've seen her. Emma's seen her – my wife. Alfie, my son has seen her.

"When we were renovating the house, there's that many footings for other buildings, I think all that land was owned by the de Trafford family way back when, so there could have been all sorts of stuff there! I know there was a load of RAF anti-aircraft stuff there."

Fortunately, this apparition sounds like a pretty placid presence.

"She's completely fine! She doesn't do anything! Alfie saw her reading a book. I saw her go from one bedroom to another."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
