Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street star Maximus Evans has opened up about his character Corey Brent's fate and whether he will get caught out in his trial.
Corey and Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) have been putting the blame on each other for Seb Franklin's (Harry Visinoni) murder – though next week's scenes will see Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) remember what happened that fateful night.
She testifies that Corey repeatedly kicked Seb while Kelly begged him to stop, though later in the week Corey himself claims that it was the other way round, making himself out to be a victim in all this.
Speaking about Corey's lies as he takes the stand, Maximus explained: "There's a balance – I found I had to get my mind into that state of vulnerability, because no matter how tough you are, when you're being thrown questions to catch you off guard then naturally you're going to get emotional.
"So there's a balance of yes he knows he has to put this act on but come the end of the questioning by Imran we do see him break down. It makes him appear like a child again and serves to assure the audience that he is still a child in this very adult situation."

Elaborating on Imran Habeeb's (Charlie de Melo) questioning, the star noted: "We saw in the Geoff trail what Imran is capable of when confronted by these awful people and Geoff was a great example of one of the most awful characters the street has had in years.
"It was great to see Imran go against Geoff and maybe showed the audience that Imran has the tools to take down Corey as well."

As for how he would like to see the trial conclude, Maximus suggested that "the end always comes for the bad ones, especially on Coronation Street".
"I'm anticipating that his end will come soon but I'd also be happy if it didn't," he added. "A guilty party not being found guilty can put everyone on edge and leave people to take matters into their own hands. So I'm excited to see the outcome."
The star also opened up about the public reaction to Corey, revealing that fans have thankfully been able to separate him from his sinister character.
"On the street everyone is really nice," he said. "I'm happy to take pictures with people because the show is such a great accomplishment for Manchester and has such a huge following. I'm happy every time people come up to me because it means the show is still going as strong as it was all those years ago.
"If there ever is a bad comment I never take it to heart because I realise that Corey is a villain and it must mean I'm doing an alright job."
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Wednesday, September 1 and Friday, September 3 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
