Coronation Street's Kelly Neelan has been given new hope when it comes to clearing her name over Seb Franklin's death, as Gary Windass steps in to help.
Upon his return from Bristol last week, Gary (Mikey North) was told by partner Maria (Samira Longchambon) in tonight's episode (August 23) that lawyer Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) is struggling to drum up the funds to pay experts to assist in the case.

Still wracked with guilt over killing Kelly's father Rick, Gary toyed with the idea of giving Imran the money. But when Maria spotted him counting up the cash in his office, she berated him for putting Kelly above their family.

"I don't believe this, you told me that money was for our future, Gary," she shouted. "How could you do this?! Seb was your mate."
"Well, we both know it's a bit more complicated than that," Gary sighed, as Maria replied: "Oh, right, so all roads lead back to there, do they? Do you know what? I have tried to shut my eyes and block it out, and pretend like it's not there but it's just no good. It changes nothing.
"You murdered someone, Gary, and there's no walking away from that. I don't wanna hear it, I never wanna hear it. Ever. No amount of money in the world is ever gonna make it right and you're gonna bury us trying. You need to make a choice. We either use that money to move forward together, or you keep one foot in the past. Up to you."

Her ultimatum seemed to fall on deaf ears though, as Gary was spotted slipping thousands of pounds through Imran's office door in a follow-up scene.
Distracted by Gary's over-the-phone confession, Maria failed to spot son Liam collapsing while playing football on the cobbles, and was left devastated when a trip to the hospital revealed that the youngster has developed severe asthma.
By his bedside, Maria took out her concerns over Liam on Gary, shouting at him for giving their money to Kelly and not putting his loved ones at the top of his priority list. Will his efforts pay off when it comes to the murder trial, at least? Or will he have risked his relationship for nothing?
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
