Evelyn Plummer's long-awaited return to Weatherfield will be marred by tenseness after she makes an insensitive remark.
In Coronation Street scenes airing Wednesday, May 12, Tyrone Dobbs' opinionated grandmother reappears in the café following her "scenic rail journey" trip, but fails to read the room in light of Nina Lucas and Seb Franklin's brutal attack.

Played by screen veteran Maureen Lipman, Evelyn targets Kirk Sutherland's IQ, which Roy Cropper then likens to the vitriol suffered by Nina and throws her out of the café.
Later on, she returns to the café again to apologise for her ill-judged behaviour, while Roy goes on to admit that he overreacted and deep down he's just concerned for Nina.
