Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street's Paul Foreman faces an unpleasant Christmas as he is arrested for assault after getting in too deep with a caller to the helpline he is volunteering at.
Paul (Peter Ash) recently got involved with the helpline, which helps vulnerable young people, after thinking about his own experience of being sexually abused by his mum's partner Kel and deciding he wants to help other young people facing a very difficult time.

Paul felt affected by a call he received from a distressed teen named Will and he ended up handing over his personal phone number to Will, before meeting up with him to tell him that he can't get personally involved with his case any further.

But in scenes to air over Christmas Will continues to call Paul, one day telling him that he is having a crisis.
Paul agrees to meet Will again and Will tells Paul that his violent stepdad has attacked his mum, leaving him terrified for his life. Horrified, Paul insists that they need to report the incident to the police.
Later in the week, Paul confides in Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) that he doesn't think he can keep lying to his partner Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) about the situation, vowing to confess all about Will.
Todd, who has been keeping Paul's secret as part of his plan to manipulate Paul and ultimately break up his relationship with Todd's ex Billy, gets Paul to promise that he will leave Todd's name out of his admission.

Paul does indeed come clean to Billy about Will and Billy is annoyed that his partner felt the need to lie to him, becoming even angrier when he realises that Todd was in on things. Billy warns Paul about Todd, saying that he suspects his ex is trying to play Paul.
Later in the Christmas period, Paul receives another desperate phone call from Will, and manipulative Todd urges Paul to go round to Will's house to help him.
Things take a terrible turn for Paul when he gets arrested for assaulting a man who he believed to be Will's dad and he is left lying in a police cell, wondering how he's got himself into such a mess.
Todd, meanwhile, is keen to show his support for Billy and his ward Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby), while also managing to put the boot into Paul with the police.

An upset Paul is later charged with criminal damage and assault, leaving Billy deeply concerned for his partner. Todd meanwhile is relishing all the trouble Paul has found himself in, pleased that he has caused issues for Billy's relationship.
But will he succeed in splitting Billy and Paul up?
