Coronation Street couple Toyah Battersby and Imran Habeeb will be involved in a sad argument after Christmas due to crossed wires over a potential foster baby.

Having been accepted as foster parents after a series of interviews and checks, Toyah (Georgia Taylor) and Imran (Charlie de Melo) are delighted to be given a baby named Mason to take care of on Christmas Eve as a short-term emergency placement.

Despite having a sleepless night taking care of Mason and feeling a little out of their depth, Toyah and Imran love spending time with him.

In scenes to air after Christmas, Toyah and Imran continue to enjoy looking after Mason during the festive season and fuss over the baby in the street.

What to Read Next

As Toyah bends over the pram to give Mason a kiss, neither she or Imran notices Toyah's grief-stricken sister Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), who has just lost her young son Oliver, watching them from the window of her flat.

Imran receives a call from social services informing him that they will be collecting baby Mason later that day, leaving him and Toyah facing the prospect of saying goodbye to the child after his short stay.

Later in the week, Imran reveals to Toyah that he was asked if the couple would like to take in another foster baby but he turned the offer down, worried that it might be too soon after Mason's departure.

Toyah is gutted at what Imran has done and so Imran promises to phone social services back to rectify the situation and accept the placement after all.

But after making the call, Imran has to break the news to Toyah that he was too late and the baby has already been placed with another foster parent. Toyah is devastated and Imran realises that he has messed up by making such a big decision without consulting his partner.

Will Toyah be able to forgive Imran?

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, December 28 and Wednesday, December 30 on ITV.
