Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street star Patti Clare has called for Ben Shephard to make a cameo appearance on the cobbles after his recent on-screen mentions.

Patti's character Mary Taylor recently revealed that she's a Ben superfan – and even owns a blanket featuring various images of his face.

What to Read Next

In a new interview with the next issue of Inside Soap – out on Tuesday (September 22) – Patti has now discussed the idea of taking the storyline further.

Patti laughed: "We have to get him on! Ben could be passing through, and pop into Preston's Petals to buy some flowers, just as Mary is having a really bad day.

"But nobody will believe her when she says he's been there!"

Asked whether Mary could ever appear on Ben's gameshow Tipping Point, Patti replied: "Well, Antony Cotton had a brilliant idea where Sean and Mary go on Tipping Point and it all turns ugly as Mary becomes very possessive of Ben.

"The producers got excited about the idea, but unfortunately it would be difficult to film.

"However, the Tipping Point people have invited me on as Patti this October for a charity version of the show, which is fantastic!"

Patti was speaking to tie in with her nomination at this year's Inside Soap Awards. She has been nominated in the Funniest Performance category.
