Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street newcomer Kimberly Hart-Simpson may have talked optimistically about her character Nicky's future with Daniel Osbourne, but she's still predicting there'll be some "backlash" over the fact that Nicky is a sex worker.
Nicky and Daniel (Rob Mallard) first crossed paths on the cobbles earlier this month and they're set to spend a night together later this week, but Kimberly admits that she's expecting some varied reactions to her storyline.
"I think there may be a backlash that she’s a sex worker – but throw that at me," she told Digital Spy and other press. "That's what we want when we do a soap: divide opinions and discussions."

Kimberly welcomes the idea of her character's storyline dividing people, especially when it comes to Nicky's job and whether it's too soon for Daniel to move on from Sinead Tinker, who passed away last autumn.

"It will go two ways. Some will say it's too quick and I get that vibe completely. But the others will say they're ready to see Daniel happy," she added.
When asked if Nicky was anything like Sinead, Kimberly was quick to point out their contrasting personalities.
"I don't think they're very similar at all except visually. We go off visuals first then personality and Nicky is a bit more punchy. They've got different energy and a different background. Daniel needs somebody different," she explained.

"That’s why it didn’t work with Bethany," she added. "He was chilling with his history, when you have to look to the future."
And Kimberly clearly doesn't take playing Daniel's romantic interest lightly, as she also outlined how much Sinead's cancer storyline touched her, and the "blessing" of working with Rob Mallard, who plays Daniel.
"I watched it all. It was a time where we could all relate to something and it was the sort of goodbye I had with my dad," she said.
"It was one of those where you have to look into the corner of the room as you feel you could lose your soul staring directly at the TV, it was so hard to watch. They’re sensational. Working with Rob [Mallard] is a blessing."
Coronation Street currently airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
