With two deaths on his conscience, Coronation Street's Gary Windass is well on his way to giving the likes of Richard Hillman and Pat Phelan a run for their money.

Okay, so his first victim Rana Habeeb was inadvertently killed thanks to Gary's misguided attempts to fix his spiralling money worries. However, by sabotaging the Underworld roof and causing the factory to cave in, he still has innocent Rana's blood on his hands.

Gary's next victim was evil loan shark Rick Neelan. To be fair, Gary didn't necessarily set out to kill Rick and was acting in self-defence, but after a bitter fight to the death between the two men, Gary eventually buried Rick in the shallow grave that the loan shark had dug for him. Now he just has to keep his fingers crossed a dog walker doesn't discover the body in the woods anytime soon.

But with promises from soap bosses that the builder-turned-serial killer is set to become one of the most notorious criminals ever to grace the cobbles, we've made a list of those Weatherfield residents who might soon find themselves on Gary's hit list…

1. Sarah Platt

Coronation Street 19/6/19: Gary and Sarah
ITV

While there's no doubt that Gary still loves Sarah despite the fact she has moved on with Weatherfield lothario Adam Barlow, Coronation Street fans recently saw that the killer has the potential to be heavy-handed even with those he holds dear.

After discovering Sarah's romance with Adam, Gary saw red and shoved her up against the wall, leaving her with a huge bruise on her arm. There's no doubt that Gary could lose his temper with Sarah again, but what if next time he accidentally went too far?

2. Kelly Neelan

Rick's daughter Kelly - Coronation Street
ITV

With Rick's teenage daughter already convinced something suspicious has happened to her criminal dad, it seems she could well be the one to unearth Gary's sinister secrets.

With Gary spending more and more time at Rick's office as he takes on the role of loan shark himself, it seems likely that Gary and Kelly are set to meet again… but could Kelly's determination to find her dad line her up as Gary's next victim?

We know that Gary is set to turn bad – but does he really have it in him to kill an innocent teenage girl?

3. Nick Tilsley

Nick Tilsley is arrested in Coronation Street
ITV

Nasty Nick is still Weatherfield's prime suspect for the Underworld roof collapse, but it has been reported that could all be about to change when he finds a new clue that could potentially prove his innocence.

In the coming weeks, Beth Tinker is set to come to Nick's rescue with her newfound passion for photography. It has been hinted that Beth remembers taking pictures from the day of the roof collapse disaster. Nick spots himself jogging in the back of one of Beth's photos and becomes convinced it will be enough to get him off the hook.

But what if he sees something else in the pictures? Could Nick find evidence in the photographs linking Gary to the sabotage and confront the new cobbles killer with his findings?

With Gary already lying to the police as he desperately tries to keep himself out of jail, could his cover-up spiral out of control as he silences Nick forever?

4. David Platt

ITV

Despite the fact it is unlikely (or so we hope!) that Coronation Street would kill off a main character like David, Mr Platt could definitely find himself in Gary's firing line if their long-standing feud is anything to go by.

The pair have been sworn enemies for more than 11 years and, even after all this time, there is no love lost between the two men. So could one of David's quick-witted – and let's face it, more than slightly barbed – comments send an unpredictable Gary over the edge?

5. Adam Barlow

ITV

Now that they're officially love rivals, Adam is well and truly on Gary's hit list… and if we were the smooth-talking Scottish solicitor, we would definitely be watching our back.

Not only will the fact Adam is sleeping with his beloved Sarah rub Gary up the wrong way, but the solicitor is also suspicious about Gary's shifty behaviour and is convinced that he is hiding something in connection to the factory roof collapse.

Could Adam's detective work reveal that Gary has blood on his hands? If he is the one to bring Gary down, we can only imagine the lengths Gary would go to for revenge.

6. Bethany Platt

ITV

With confirmation that actress Lucy Fallon is set to depart the cobbles, could Bethany be departing Weatherfield in a body bag thanks to Gary?

At the moment Bethany is one of the few people in Coronation Street who is still 'team Gary' and is convinced that her mum is making a huge mistake giving up on him. But as she fights to prove he's the good man that she thinks he is, could she accidentally stumble across some evidence pointing to the contrary, landing herself in grave danger?

7. Sharon the debt collector

Vicky Jefferies is Gary Windass's target in Coronation Street
ITV

As evil Rick's sidekick, Sharon has seen Gary at his absolute worst and knows things about the builder that his friends and family could never imagine. Could this insider knowledge make Sharon number three on the killer's hit list?

As Gary takes on Rick's dodgy loan shark business, it seems it could only be a matter of time before Sharon makes a reappearance. How will she react to the fact Gary has been keeping Rick's office chair warm since he disappeared?

It's only natural that Sharon would want to do some digging and find out where her boss has vanished to, so could she be the one to discover Gary's dark secret and inadvertently sign her own death warrant?

8. Carla Connor

Carla Connor is struggling in Coronation Street
ITV

Carla has been a thorn in Gary's side for months. If it wasn't for the fact she refused to pay for the full factory roof to be replaced by Gary, then the builder wouldn't have seen his money worries escalate, leading him to sabotage Underworld's roof to get cash.

Carla is also already suspicious of Gary after he went to the hospital immediately after she suffered her psychotic episode, just so that he could steal back Sarah's phone with his voicemail confession on it. If she confronted him about his little visit to the hospital, we dread to think the lengths he would go to in order to cover his tracks…

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
