Liz McDonald's life has been left in the balance after Coronation Street's Christmas Day special, which saw her knocked over by a drunk Jenny Connor.
Reports in the tabloids had leaked details of a horror Christmas hit-and-run for Liz, despite the fact it didn't feature in any of the official spoilers for the festive period.
Although the identity of the culprit had been kept under wraps (we had our suspicions though!), it'd become increasingly likely that either Jenny or Johnny would be to blame.
Sure enough, Jenny turned out to be the person in question – committing the crime at the end of an utterly disastrous Christmas Day.
Increasingly paranoid that there could still be a romantic spark between Johnny and Liz, Jenny made another shock move by contacting Liz's ex-flame Mike Thornberry behind her back.
Liz was understandably mortified by Jenny's interference and furiously confronted her, but things only got worse when Gemma also decided that it was time to voice her suspicions as well.
What to Read Next
Witnessing the tension between the couple, Gemma quizzed Jenny on whether Johnny was being violent towards her – unwittingly bringing up the phone tracking device in the process.
After another furious showdown with Johnny, Jenny eventually stormed out, but was left even more devastated when she saw him leave Liz's place later on.
Unknown to her, Johnny actually went to Liz's house to sack her, in a bid to put his marriage first, but the latest blow served as the final straw for a highly intoxicated Jenny – who made the ill-advised decision to drive off.
With Liz crossing the road at the same time, disaster soon struck when Jenny accidentally knocked her down but, believing she was alright, drove off immediately after.
But despite seeming fine after the accident, Liz's injuries caught up with her when she returned home and collapsed shortly afterwards. Will she be alright? And is Jenny facing some very serious charges?
While the Connors certainly seem to be facing a bleak future, there was a glimmer of hope for another family as Gina's lies were exposed.
Believing he'd cheated on Sally, Tim confessed everything to her in prison – only to be startled when he later learned that he hadn't slept with Gina at all.
Furious, Tim threw Gina out of his house and called Sally to make amends – vowing to get her home as soon as possible. Could their marriage survive after all?
Coronation Street continues on Boxing Day at 7.30pm on ITV.
