Jonathan thinks that no-one is working hard enough and so creates a false crisis in order to give everyone a push. He pretends that Hugo Speer has quit the show and so the team have to re-write all the storylines.

Thinking that his trick has done the job, Jonathan is then horrified to find out that his bluff has been realised and Hugo wants out after hearing the rumour about himself. He needs to find someone to blame so that Hugo will be persuaded to stay, so employs Sam’s nephew as a runner and then promptly sacks him, pretending that he started the rumour.

Carl tries to give up smoking with Gillian’s help but finds his resolve is crushed when Tom nearly kisses Kelly in front of everyone. Despite wanting to take Kelly to The Killers concert, Tom bribes Carl for the tickets when he spots him having a sneaky fag and threatens to tell Gillian. But Kelly is distracted by Sam’s nephew, so Tom ends up going to the concert with Carl.
