Annie and AJ decide to embrace the New Year by throwing a Hogmanay party. However, Annie's party spirits are dampened when she discovers a suggestive message on AJ's mobile from his former mistress. Convinced that AJ is still being unfaithful, Annie confronts her husband, who pleads his innocence.
Annie puts on a brave face and throws herself into being the perfect Hogmanay hostess, even putting up with some unwanted locals as party guests. Later that night, an emotional Annie seeks solace in Alex, who is estranged from Kelly-Marie and is facing his own marital uncertainty.
Meanwhile, Caitlin finds herself in familiar territory when Angus starts chasing her for rent money. Knowing the family could be thrown out if she doesn't pay up, Caitlin decides to sell Jenny's Christmas laptop to raise the rent money. However, Jenny's hurt turns to humiliation when Harry reveals that Caitlin tried selling the computer to punters in the Tall Ship.
Elsewhere, thanks to a misunderstanding by Patrick, Ellie assumes that she is moving into Bob's new flat. Realising the truth could unsettle their rekindled relationship, Bob struggles to let Ellie know that Angus will be his new flatmate, not her.
Also this week, fearing the trouble that she might be stirring up, Kelly-Marie has doubts about her decision to bring Lenny back to tackle Martina's threat.
