Annie goads Eileen into reinstating her online dating profile and it's not long before she gets an offer. With some gentle persuasion from Annie, Eileen agrees to meet 'John' for a drink. However, she is shocked when she comes face-to-face with a very young looking date.
Sceptical, Eileen decides to stay for one drink and is slowly charmed by her date. As the cocktails flow, Eileen finds herself drawn to the mysterious man and gives into temptation against her better judgement. However, in the cold light of day, Eileen is humiliated when she later discovers John's true identity.
Meanwhile, Annie and AJ are thrilled when their son Harry turns up in Shieldinch. However, their delight quickly sours when Harry announces that he has dropped out of university. Worse still, Harry has another secret that he wants to keep hidden from his parents.
Elsewhere, Martina manipulates Kelly-Marie into inviting her to be part of their Christmas Day celebrations. Determined to keep his mother at arm's length, Alex suggests they escape to the Highlands for Christmas. However, fearing Martina's influence might mean he doesn't get his way, Alex reacts defensively with his controlling nature once again rearing its ugly head.
Also today, over at the McLeans', Caitlin feels the pressure to give her family the Christmas they desire - no matter what the cost.
