A seismic shift has occurred in the world of US soaps. After 57 years, the long-running daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives is moving from NBC to Peacock.
The move will officially launch into action on September 12, upon which Peacock will become the exclusive provider of every new episode of Days of Our Lives.
The online streaming platform also hosts the entirety of the show's library to Peacock Premium subscribers. Plus, Peacock has already produced the spin-off series Beyond Salem, which is also available to watch on the streaming service.
Days of Our Lives chronicles the lives of various characters in the fictional city of Salem and follows their ups and downs in love, career, family and more. The soap first premiered on NBC in 1965, meaning it has been going for 57 years continuously – one of the longest-running soaps in television history.
Days of Our Lives has received plenty of critical acclaim to go with its audience love and dedicated fan support, however. It has been nominated for four Primetime Emmy awards and has won a whopping 58 Daytime Emmy awards, including four wins for Outstanding Drama Series in 1978, 2013, 2015 and 2018.
The slot that Days of Our Lives leaves behind on NBC will be filled with NBC News Daily, which will be anchored by Kate Snow, Aaron Gilchrist, Vicky Nguyen and Morgan Radford.
