Kimberly Hart-Simpson has confirmed she is returning to Coronation Street as sex worker Nicky Wheatley.

The former love interest of Daniel Osbourne was last seen on the cobbles in September 2020 when she made her exit after Daniel paid off her debts.

On Twitter, the actress shared the exciting news, writing: "I can confirm I am returning to @itvcorrie - the best street in the world. #corrie #nickywheatley."

Back in June, Kimberley marked one year since she made her debut on the soap with an Instagram post chronicling her crazy year.

"Exactly a year since the first Corrie Epps aired," she wrote alongside a series of pics. "It's been a right mad one. I cried outside Rita's gaff flannel acting.

"Wore a right nice blue cardi. Went on @celebsgodating and then became best mates with @waynelineker. Some would say I have peaked too soon. I would like to think it's only just begun.

"I am grateful for this journey. The highs, the lows and the in-betweens."

In March, Kimberley opened up about her sexuality after previously coming out as pansexual.

"I had always been attracted to women and men, I had always known that it was in me," Kimberley said.

"But when I was at university, I used to get a bit drunk and change my sexual preferences on Tinder late at night.

"But then I'd wake up the next morning and get this fear. I was struggling to come to terms with it because we weren't in the same position now as we were back in 2012."

She continued: "Now we have the LGBTQ+ community, but it wasn't like that when I was growing up. To be gay was to be different and that was hard to get your head around.

"Back then you would have all these thoughts such as, 'Can I have a family?' If I'd known then what I know now, I would never have feared a single thing."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7.30pm on ITV.
