You'll have to wait until spring 2017 to see it, but fans of actor Andrew Scott can rejoice as it's been announced he is to play Hamlet at London's Almeida Theatre.

He'll be the second Sherlock star in recent times to take on the role, after good pal Benedict Cumberbatch brought queues to the Barbican with his fierce portrayal of Shakespeare's icon.

And Scott is far from the only big name coming to the Almeida stage, with acting heavyweights Ralph Fiennes and Vanessa Redgrave both appearing from June in a new adaptation of Richard III.

Hamlet will get going in spring 2017, while Richard III opens on June 7.

Cumberbatch's Hamlet got mixed reviews, but has earned him an Olivier Award nomination.
