A pajama-clad Michael Jackson turned up for trial late today, after the judge threatened to revoke his $3m bail and issue a warrant for his arrest.
The trial was scheduled to begin this morning at 8:30am Pacific Time. Jackson failed to appear. Lawyer for the defence, Thomas Mesereau, told Judge Melville that Jackson had been hospitalised due to a "serious back problem."
A decidedly unimpressed Melville refused to accept that explanation, and threatened to issue a warrant for Michael Jackson's arrest and revoke his $3m bail - in essence remanding Jackson in custody for the remainder of the case. Melville gave Jackson one hour to appear.
Jackson eventually showed up three minutes after the deadline set by Judge Melville looking dishevelled and wearing a bizarre combination of pajama bottoms and sandals.
