2023 has seen us say farewell to some famous faces from the world of entertainment and beyond. Here, we pay tribute to stars and celebrities of TV, film and beyond, along with the words of their friends, colleagues and loved ones – gone but never forgotten.

Ian Pepperell - actor best known for playing The Archers' Roy Tucker - died December 22, aged 53

"Like all the very best radio actors he could think on his feet and change the way he played a scene in the blink of an eye. Thanks to Ian's brilliance, he created in Roy a character who managed to face in two directions simultaneously in almost every scene he played... Ian had a lot more gas in the tank and was desperate to return to Ambridge once his health permitted. It is tragic that he died in his prime, we will miss him dearly and our hearts go out to his family and friends and everyone who knew him. Dean Sullivan - Brookside star - died November 29, aged 68

Frances Sternhagen - Cheers and Sex and the City star - died November 27, aged 93

"Frannie. Mom. Frances Sternhagen. On Monday night, Nov 27, she died peacefully at her home, a month and a half shy of her 94th birthday. I will post more soon, but for now I just want to give thanks for the remarkable gift of an artist and human being that was Frances Sternhagen. She was beloved by many. I'm very lucky I was able to call her my mom, my friend, my song and dance partner.

"We were together last week, and we spoke Monday afternoon, said how much we loved and missed one another. I was about to board a plane for London when I got the news, and am there now. Set to perform some new songs (one of which was inspired by her) this weekend. She always encouraged my writing, and enjoyed my singing. I’ll fly back very early the next day.
