Modelling sensation and Suicide Squad star Cara Delevingne is in a bit of bother thanks to her latest advert with Jimmy Choo.

The 25-year-old is is promoting Choo's Cruise 2018 footwear line in the ad, which has been slammed for promoting rape culture.

Titled 'Shimmer in the Dark', it features Delevingne strolling the streets of New York wearing little more than a red mini dress and glittery boots, as random men wolf-whistle and call out things like, "Nice shoes".

Angry viewers have taken to social media to accuse the ad of glamourising sexual harassment.

Jessica Valenti, author of Sex Object: A Memoir, was one of those who tweeted her disgust at the campaign.

The ad is arguably an odd choice for Delevingne to make, being a vocal advocate of women's rights. She was one of the actresses who spoke out in the recent Harvey Weinstein scandal, and played a prominent part in the #MeToo movement.

Another ad campaign that's received a backlash this week is Poundland's Christmas-themed posts showing an elf toy in a range of adult situations, branded "vulgar" and "inappropriate" by Twitter users.

In a statement to Digital Spy, the ASA – the regulatory body which monitors the advertising industry in the UK – confirmed today that it has so far received more than 50 complaints about Poundland's controversial tweets.
