Pippa Middleton has welcomed her first child with husband James Matthews – a baby boy, born on Monday, October 15. The happy news was confirmed this afternoon (October 16).

Both mother and baby are said to be "doing well", according to reports.

Pippa followed in the footsteps of her older sister, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, by giving birth in the exclusive Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital, Paddington.

Her financier husband James was pictured arriving at the hospital yesterday with two large bags, fuelling speculation that the arrival of their new family addition was imminent.
