It's common knowledge now that Chrissy Teigen is one of the greatest celebrities on social media. Whether it's contemplating the meaning of life after completing Super Mario Odyssey or denying that she's Adolf Hitler's naked lover, her Twitter thread is definitely one to follow if you don't already.

Especially after she made the surprise revelation that we've all been pronouncing her name wrong – and have been doing so for so long that she doesn't even bother to correct people anymore.

In response to a tweet which read "You know how innocent you have to be to allow a world to pronounce yo last name wrong yo whole life and just go along with it?", one of Chrissy's fans wrote: "Well we pronounce @chrissyteigen's name wrong all the time."

Teigen replied: "Word! Gave up a long time ago. Last name is Tie-gen not Tee-gen."

Wait, what? Tiegen? TIEGEN? Well, this changes everything.

Chrissy then went on to explain that even she pronounces her surname wrong now, and corrects people when they say it the right way.

"I know. I even correct people when they say it correctly. it's all v effed up," she continued, before adding: "I don't correct people, ever. They can call me Janet and I won't. Wrong order? I'll eat it. Taxi going to the wrong airport? I'll change my flight."

Teigen's surname isn't the only celebrity name we've been getting wrong, either – a video of Ariana Grande pronouncing her own name revealed she pronounces it as Grand-y rather than Grand-ay.

The more you know, eh?
