Piers Morgan doesn't seem to have too many hard feelings towards Cheryl after all, despite his previous criticism of her and Liam Payne's break-up announcement.

The Good Morning Britain presenter decided to wade into the couple's break up last week, saying: "It's always weird when they say they have so much love for each other. If you love each other that much, what are you splitting up for?"

He added: "I always think these statements should be a little more honest: 'We can't stand the sight of each other.'"

However, it seems he's put that behind him as he posed with Cheryl during Simon Cowell's summer party, and they were all smiles.

"Cheryl bouncing back with a new older man strategy at Simon Cowell's summer party," the GMB co-host captioned an Instagram snap of the pair.

Of course, Piers has form in socialising with his enemies – it was only back in May that he posed with long-term rival Lord Alan Sugar. We suppose you can't trade barbs forever.

Cheryl and Liam – who have one child, their son Bear, together – announced their split last week, two years after confirming their romance.

"We are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It's been a tough decision for us to make," they said in their original statement.

"We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together."
