Katharine McPhee and David Foster have something extra to celebrate on Independence Day week—they're engaged, TMZ reports.
The actress and singer and the music composer and producer had been friends for years, but rumors of them dating started around September, People adds.
McPhee was reportedly showing off her engagement ring while vacationing on the island of Capri over the weekend. It's unclear exactly when they got engaged, but McPhee's rep confirmed the two are set to get married.
And McPhee seemingly also confirmed things herself, with a sassy Ariana Grande GIF, as one does in 2018.
The two first met when McPhee was on American Idol, and though they kept their relationship private when they got together years later, Foster's daughter, Erin, gushed about her back in October.
"My dad is kind of a hopeless romantic, and Katharine's awesome," she told People. "We really, really like her, and we've known her for a really long time. And if he's happy, we're happy."

It'll be the second marriage for McPhee, who was married to Nick Cokas from 2008 to 2016. And it'll be the fifth for Foster, who was previously married to B.J. Cook, Rebecca Dyer, Linda Thompson, and Yolanda Hadid.
There are no photos of the ring just yet, but Foster is already taking to the "Instagram husband" title pretty well. McPhee posted photos from the Capri trip and noted it took about 50 tries to get the right angles.
McPhee did the same for her future husband, serving as vacation photographer for his Instagram. After all, the couple who Instagrams together, stays together.
