Miley Cyrus has retracted an apology previously issued about a controversial shoot for Vanity Fair, which was published 10 years ago.

The singer took to Twitter to share a throwback to a photoshoot from 2008, which saw her posing at 15 years old without a top on for renowned fashion photographer Annie Leibovitz, published on the cover of the New York Post.

The headline reads: "MILEY'S SHAME / TV's 'Hannah' apologises for near-nude pic."

The photoshoot was controversial at the time due to Miley being a teenager and having young fans, and following a media uproar, a Disney spokesperson released the statement: "Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old girl in order to sell magazines."

Miley also released a statement, which read, "I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed. I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologise to my fans who I care so deeply about."

Asked at the time whether the photo could be viewed as controversial, Miley added: "No, I mean I had a big blanket on... And I thought, this looks pretty, and really natural. I think it's really artsy."

Now, 10 years later, Cyrus has seemingly retracted her apology with a scathing tweet alongside a screenshot of the New York Post front cover.

"IM NOT SORRY / F*** YOU #10yearsago," she wrote to her 41 million followers. As we know, that old shoot was actually pretty tame compared to the snaps she's treated us to since (remember THAT totally nude shoot for V Magazine?)

Miley also shared a number of other throwbacks to her childhood across social media, including one captioned: "Being extra AF!", and another: "Feeling myself... I'll never forget the day I got this shirt from Fred Segal."
