Jennifer Lawrence has denied claims that she caused Chris Pratt and Anna Faris' split after eight years of marriage.

Following their announcement last year, Lawrence was accused of having an affair with Pratt during filming of sci-fi movie Passengers, leading fans to instantly blame her for their marriage breaking up.

"I never had an affair with Chris Pratt on Passengers. I mean, they got a divorce, like, two years later and everybody was like, 'Jennifer Lawrence!' and I was like, 'What the... I'm in Montreal two years later," she told KISS FM UK.

Pratt and Faris officially filed for divorce in December, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for ending their eight-year marriage.

"We tried hard for a long time, and we're really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward," Pratt had wrote on Facebook announcing the split.

Faris also addressed the Lawrence rumours in her memoir Unqualified, saying that she knew they were "just false rumours".

"Jennifer and I really are friendly, and she was apologetic even though she didn't need to be, because she hadn't done anything wrong," she recalled.

Following the split, Faris broke her silence on her podcast Anna Faris is Unqualified, thanking her fans "for all the love I've been receiving, and I truly love you".
