Michael Bublé has confirmed the reports that his son Noah is making good progress in his battle against cancer after the three-year-old was diagnosed with liver cancer last year.

In a Facebook post today (February 3), Michael and his wife Luisana Lopilato provided an update on their son's illness, revealing that doctors are "optimistic" for Noah's future.

"We are so grateful to report that our son Noah has been progressing well during his treatment and the doctors are very optimistic about the future for our little boy," the statement read.

"He has been brave throughout and we continue to be inspired by his courage. We thank God for the strength he has given all of us. Our gratitude to his doctors and caretakers cannot be put into words.

"We'd like to thank the thousands of people that have sent their prayers and good wishes to us. As we continue this journey we are greatly comforted by your support and love."

Earlier today it was reported that Michael's sister-in-law had apparently confirmed to an Argentinian TV personality that Noah is recovering and "the cancer has gone", and while Daniela Lopilato later distanced herself from some of the comments with a Twitter update, she did reaffirm the good news that Noah is doing well.

"Don't use my name in the media with information and things that I haven't said," she wrote. "Noah is doing well and his parents will speak when they want to."

Michael and Luisana cancelled all of their work commitments to focus on Noah and his recovery after the cancer diagnosis was reported in November last year, with Michael most recently pulling out of hosting this year's Brit Awards to look after Noah and be with his family.

Noah has been undergoing treatment in Los Angeles and was previously deemed well enough to spend Christmas at home after completing the first stage of his cancer treatment.
