Michelle Dockery's fiancé has passed away at the age of 34.
John Dineen is believed to have begun dating the Downton Abbey actress in 2013, after being introduced by Dockery's co-star Allen Leech.
A family spokesperson said: "The family is very grateful for the support and kindness they have received, but would kindly request that they are left to grieve in private."
The financial PR executive died in Cork's Marymount Hospice in Ireland on Sunday (December 13) following a period of illness.
A private funeral service is expected to take place on Wednesday.
Dockery last year spoke of Dineen in an interview, saying: "I have a wonderful man in my life from Ireland. We were introduced by Allen Leech. That's all you need to know."
News of the couple's engagement emerged in February, when the actress was said to have showed off her diamond ring at a Downton script meeting.
