The news comes following a turbulent time for the actress, who is known for her role as Walford's Sonia Fowler.

The 32-year old called off her previous engagement to Adam Cottrell in 2013, who she has a five-year old daughter with.

Cottrell had previously been sentenced to 120 hours of community service and given a restraining order after he assaulted her twice in 2011.

Cassidy has played Sonia on EastEnders intermittently for the last 15 years, making a full-time return to the show last year.
