Paul Walker's daughter has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Porsche, alleging that the sports car her father was in when he was killed in 2013 had numerous defects.

Meadow Rain Walker, 16, is seeking unspecified damages for the faults, which her lawyers are suggesting caused the actor to be trapped in the Porsche Carrera GT when it crashed and burst into flames.

According to TMZ, the lawsuit alleges that the vehicle had "a history of instability and control issues".

Meadow Rain is claiming that her father survived the impact of the crash, but "breathed soot into his trachea while the Porsche Carrera GT burned" because he was trapped inside.

Porsche North America is yet to publicly respond to the suit, but the widow of the car's driver Roger Rodas is also suing Porsche over the crash that killed both men.

Kristine Rodas filed a wrongful death and negligence lawsuit against the car company in May 2014. Police have stated that high speeds of up to 93mph were the cause of the crash, but Kristine has claimed that her husband was driving at 55mph.

"The Carrera GT was unsafe for its intended use by reason of defects in its manufacture, design, testing, component and constituents, so that it would not safely serve its purpose," the lawsuit states.

Walker's death occurred on a break from filming Furious 7, the latest instalment in the Fast & Furious franchise.

His passing was expected to result in the largest insurance claim in Hollywood history.

Caleb and Cody Walker helped Universal with "small gaps left in production" after their brother's passing, and the studio also used special effects including face-replacement technology costing around $50 million to complete the movie.

Stars from the Fast & Furious movies including Vin Diesel paid a touching tribute to Paul at the Teen Choice Awards earlier this year.

Accepting the prize for Choice Movie: Action, Diesel said: "One of the best blessings in our lives is the fact that we have the opportunity to call Pablo our brother. Paul Walker is here in spirit with us.

"Since this is a Teen Choice Award, you beautiful teens, there is one teen in the audience that is a part of the family that kept us going.

"It's Paul Walker's family - his parents and his brothers - that kept us encouraged while we were making Furious 7, but there is one very, very special teen here, and her name is Meadow Walker."
