Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has expressed his disappointment at Hulk Hogan's racially-charged comments.
Hulk was axed from the WWE last week after a transcript was published featuring a conversation he had in 2007, in which he used racist terms while describing his daughter Brooke's then-boyfriend.
Speaking at the Ballers panel during Thursday's (July 30) Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, Johnson said he "had not known the man to be racist".
"Yeah, I saw that. I was pretty disappointed with what I heard, like all of us, by the way," he explained. "I was really disappointed in him."
Johnson was particularly surprised because he'd known Hulk for years, after his dad and uncle helped train him in the '70s.
"It's funny, it's one of those things where - and not justifying what he said - we've all talked trash, especially in private," he continued. "He said what he said, and now he's paying the price."
WWE chairman Vince McMahon recently said that he doesn't think the wrestler's WWE departure will have "any material effect" on the company.
