Past Apprentice candidates and fans of the show have been expressing their shock and sadness this afternoon, with Lord Sugar describing Baggs as "one of the standout characters" on the show.

A police statement read: "Police can now confirm that the man is Stuart Mark Alden Baggs, 27 years of age.

"Police confirm that at this time there is nothing obvious to indicate the cause of his untimely death and enquiries will continue.

"The police request that consideration is given to the privacy of the family and friends at this difficult time."

Baggs appeared on The Apprentice in 2010, dubbing himself "Stuart Baggs 'The Brand'". At the time, he was then the youngest contestant to appear on the show and reached the semi-finals, bowing out of the competition at the gruelling interviews stage.

He became a fast fan favourite with his classic quotes and one-liners including "Everything I touch turns to sold" and "I'm not a one-trick pony, I'm not a 10-trick pony, I'm a whole field of ponies - and they're literally all running towards this job".

Born in Plymouth, Baggs lived on the Isle of Man and ran a telecommunications company on the island.

Baggs was the managing director of BlueWave Communications Ltd, and only this week launched a 4G hub to bring the technology to the Isle of Man.

"We have been trying for years and years to get our own 4G network," he told Isle of Man Today's Business News in an interview published on Wednesday (July 29).

"That's key for us, this is not just a canned press statement, this is going to revolutionise the Isle of Man."

He appeared on an Isle of Man week of cookery reality show Come Dine With Me last November.

Baggs added of his post-Apprentice life: "I work, as my hair will tell you, at least 18 hours a day. I sleep for four hours religiously, I would not have it any other way, like Margaret Thatcher.

"But also I'm a geek I make no excuse for it. I started this business as a geek."

Quizzed on his famous stint on The Apprentice, he said: "You'd have to have a sense of humour failure not to laugh about it.

"But it's part of my history. History is a rich tapestry and some parts of it are more colourful than others."
