He teased his elaborate plan in a number of Instagram posts, before Cheryl revealed her birthday treat in her own post.
"When you're asked what you would like to have for your birthday dinner and you say lets go to a nice Italian restaurant... Then you actually end up IN Italy," she revealed.
However, his efforts put pressure on the X Factor judge, as she joked: "I need to step up my game. I'm feeling very lucky and grateful."
Cheryl will return to the judging panel of the ITV series once again, where she will be joined by Simon Cowell along with newcomers Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw.
