The sniping kicked off earlier today (June 5) after Morgan referred in his newspaper column to an instance when he crossed paths with Cleese.
Describing the stand-off in a New York restaurant as "magnificently British", Morgan appeared to have implied that both men had decided to ignore each other.
However, Cleese read the printed anecdote differently, and took to Twitter to make his intentions clear.

Morgan then proceeded to retweet replies he had received, both those praising his notoriety and deriding him for his attitude, as the exchange continued.
