A spokesperson for Burton told Metro that the filmmaker picked up minor injuries which required medical attention, but did not sustain any breakages. Further details of the incident have not been made public.

The filmmaker's assistant reportedly asked the hospital to corner off a private area for him as he waited to be seen by medical staff.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children stars Asa Butterfield (Ender's Game) as 16-year-old Jacob Portman, who discovers a school for supernaturally gifted children.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, which is being adapted for the screen by Kingsman: The Secret Service's Jane Goldman, opens on March 4, 2016 in the UK and the US.
