Rumours that the new royal baby was on the way were first sparked on Tuesday (April 28) when Sky News correspondent Kay Burley said she had seen palace press officers arriving at the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, central London. However, this turned out to be a false alarm.
Parking restrictions outside the hospital were extended earlier this week.
William and Kate arranged a special delivery of cake and coffee earlier this week for well-wishers gathered outside the hospital.
The duke and duchess - who marked their fourth wedding anniversary on Wednesday (April 29) - are already parents to Prince George, who was born in July 2013.
The new baby will be fourth in line to the throne behind Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George.
