John Dagleish has said he is "massively overwhelmed" at being nominated for a 2015 Olivier Award.
The actor has been nominated for Best Actor in a Musical for his role as Ray Davies in Sunny Afternoon.
In an interview with Digital Spy today (March 9), he said: "It's amazing. I'm massively, massively overwhelmed... I'm over the moon. It hasn't sunk in yet."
He revealed iconic singer Davies was not critical of Dagleish's performance and didn't give out too many pointers on how to portray him.
"Ray took the pressure off quite early. He said he didn't want an impersonation.
"So what I try to do is just play the character that is in the script and try and make some of the better-known songs sound as like him as possible."

He added: "I love the show - I love what I'm doing. I didn't expect to still be as enthusiastic about it as I am now, but I still love it and the audiences still love it."
The Olivier Awards 2015 will take place on Sunday, April 12 at Covent Garden Opera House.
