Stephen Belafonte has broken his silence on reports about his marriage to Mel B.
Film producer Belafonte strenuously denied rumours of assault during an interview with The Sun.
"I had nothing to do with hurting my wife. I did not touch Mel. I didn't hit her," he told the paper. "I wasn't cheating or anything. There was no girl involved."
When asked why Mel B was not wearing her wedding ring when she returned for The X Factor grand final after missing Saturday night's show due to illness, he replied: "Listen, people do whatever they do.
"Maybe her hands were swollen and she couldn't fit the ring on because she's been in the hospital?"
Belafonte, who is currently in the US, revealed that he was back in contact with Mel B for the first time since she was admitted to hospital and that he had just spoken with her on the phone prior to the interview.

In response to questions about why he hadn't visited her during her stay in hospital, he said: "You know what? It's not even about Mel and it's not even about me.
"There were some motives going on from other people on certain things."
Belafonte did admit that the pair had been rowing in recent weeks, but then asked: "How long have you been married? How many arguments do you have? I find it really sad nobody would like for Mel, or us, to be happy.
"There has to be an attitude of, 'Oh, they got into a fight, so now let's go for the jugular'. Everyone gets in arguments. And then stuff calms down and you think about your life.
"I love my wife. I care about my wife. I'd take a bullet for her. I've got to consistently grow a little bit. But I do want to get old with my wife and have grandchildren.
"And by the way, Mel's never said anything. This is because there's a witch-hunt and a feeding frenzy against me."
Belafonte, who has been married to the former Spice Girl since 2007 and has a 3-year-old daughter with her, added: "At the end of the day, I have children and I have a wife.
"I protect my wife and my children with my life. That's just the way it is. It doesn't matter if people think I'm a good guy or a bad guy."
Belafonte also addressed rumours that he had engaged in Skype sex with an unnamed model, stating that the woman in question was "harassing him" and that Mel B was fully aware of the situation.
He further added: "I'm going to be honest with you. There are ten million guys out there who look at porn, but love their wives.
"I don't mind looking at someone who calls me and strips down. But I love my wife."
In a further interview with MailOnline, Belafonte said in reference to the allegations: "No-one has accused me of anything.
"Who accused me of it? Did she (Mel) accuse me of it? The police, the hospital, who accused me of it?
"I thought when you beat someone up, the police or the hospital or the person you beat up says it."
