The Radio 2 presenter was travelling at 16mph when police with a speeding gun stopped him and warned that the cycling speed limit in the area was 5mph.
Taking to Twitter, Vine shared a video of the incident using the aptly named Vine app.
When I got to the office @BBCRadio2 and said I was radar-gunned at 16mph on my bicycle, producer said: YOU ARE LIVING ON THE EDGE

The presenter also voiced his concerns about the speed limit imposed on cyclists.
.@london_cycling My concern is that if cyclists are forced to travel at walking pace they will return to the roads and mix it with trucks

Speaking on air later, Vine told fellow presenter Ken Bruce: "I haven't seen a radar gun for a long time so didn't expect one with the digit 16 on it.
"I feel embarrassed and I apologise. I didn't see any signs. I certainly will be cycling as slow as walking pace in future."
