U2 frontman Bono experienced a close call when the private jet he was in lost its rear door while 8,000 feet in the air.
The Irish rockstar and four friends were travelling from Dublin to Berlin for the Bambi Awards yesterday (November 12) when the £50m Learjet 60 lost its tailgate, according to BZ Berlin (via NY Daily News).
A spokesperson for Berlin Schönefeld Airport said that the plane was in "no danger of crashing".
An investigation into the incident has been launched by the German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accidents Investigation.
Bono and his fellow passengers did not learn of the malfunction or that their luggage had fallen out of the plane until they landed safely in Germany.
The door is said to have landed in the Brandenburg countryside.
It was recently confirmed that Bono will feature in Band Aid 30.
