Simon Cowell has said that he does not want Scotland to become an independent country.
Speaking at the X Factor auditions in Edinburgh yesterday, Cowell said that he would like the nations to stay co-existing as they do now, reports The Mirror.
"My mother's maiden name was Dalglish," Cowell said. "I would feel quite sad if Scotland left the Union, though I would respect the decision.
"I would never tell anyone what to do and I think the referendum is all about having self expression.
"The last thing I think you probably want is a Brit telling a Scot what to do. I would say coming up here, and the reason we come up here, is that we are like brothers. I feel connected."
The X Factor judge insisted that the show would still visit Scotland if it was to become independent, saying: "We wouldn't drop you!"
Cowell's remarks come after JK Rowling donated £1m to a campaign against Scottish independence last month.
