Dan Mathieson, mayor of Bieber's native Stratford in Canada, publicly backed the troubled popstar after his series of run-ins with the law.
According to The Beacon Herald, Mathieson described Bieber as "a 19-year-old person who has made some errors".
He continued: "I don't condone them, but I also understand that we all have made errors in our life. I hope for his sake that he can get a reset, and get back to music and doing what he loves."
Bieber took to Twitter to express his gratitude and link to the mayor's comments.
